Hotel Samba has recently been certified with the Bioscore seal, which ensures sustainability standards in the areas of Corporate Social Responsibility, emissions, catering, waste management, as well as water and energy saving. Thanks to the great environmental track record, with more than 25 years of work, Hotel Samba has managed to obtain the highest level, an A+

This seal is added to others previously obtained by the establishment, such as ISO 14001 or EMAS, making it the first hotel in Spain and Europe to obtain these certifications together.

Practices such as the reuse of grey water, the use of filters for taps, the reduction of plastics in the facilities or having efficient lighting, have been positively valued when obtaining the seal.

Other significant issues taken into account when assessing the sustainability of the hotel were having an intelligent irrigation system, the presence of the Greentour tool in the hotel, participation in various projects promoted by the ICRA or the ACRA, as well as the recycling of paper, cardboard, glass, packaging, organic waste, hazardous waste and urban waste, with the collaboration of the EMAS club.

The Bioscore seal has also been awarded to the other accommodation of the Samba Hotels chain, the Hotel Surf Mar, which despite not having such a long history of sustainability, has obtained a high A rating.

Currently, it is working, either by changing habits or participating in various projects, to meet the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and achieve the environmental level of Hotel Samba.

What is Bioscore?

Bioscore is a company dedicated to sustainability management and consultancy, through its own certification and software. Bioscore's purpose is to accompany the tourism sector on the path towards awareness and respect for the environment and society. This is achieved through the digitalisation and democratisation of sustainability and by helping to minimise the impact of companies' activities on the environment.

The consultancy company carries out its certifications based on the independent evaluation of a hotel's level of sustainability through a scoring based on ESG criteria (environmental, social and corporate governance criteria). It aligns the most relevant parameters of the main internationally recognised ecolabels to offer a global and homogenised vision of the sustainability efforts made by hotels.
